The Minnesota Partnership, in cooperation with the BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota, is spreading the word throughout the State on the benefits of bioscience. In the first of a series of conferences aimed to elevate bioscience knowledge and capture business opportunities, the Partnership co-hosted the Central Minnesota Bioscience Conference along with SICM - the Science Initiative of Central Minnesota - in St. Cloud. The morning event included presentations and panel discussions from research, government and industry representatives. Speakers included Glenn Forbes, Chair, Mayo Clinic Board of Directors, Frank Cerra, Senior Vice President for Health Sciences, University of Minnesota, Dale Wahlstrom of the BioBusiness Alliance and John Frobenius, Former President and CEO of CentraCare Health Systems. Gov. Tim Pawlenty gave the keynote address during a luncheon following the conference. The event hosted nearly 200 business leaders crossing all sectors of the economy. Then, on February 24, the Partnership and the BioBusiness Alliance collaborated with the Worthington Regional Economic Development Corporation to provide the second forum in Worthington. Over 100 business leaders, representatives from academic institutions and community leaders across all sectors of the economy in Minnesota attended, learned more about developing the biosciences in the Worthington area and took advantage of this networking opportunity. Additional bioscience events are being planned around the state, including conferences in Mankato and Bemidji.
